During the next few weeks there will be much photo and video taking of special family moments.
So, before the holidays are upon us, we thought it was an appropriate time to post this brief reminder - DON'T FORGET TO BACK-UP YOUR HARD DRIVE! With one disk failure, precious family memories can be lost forever.
I know, I'm just like you, it's something that I know is important to do, and it's always in the back of my mind - but it takes just enough time to be inconvenient, and so I put it off "until the next time I'm at my desk.."
But beware, the next time you sit down at your desk ready to fire up the ol' computer and do some work, things might be different. It just may hang for a moment too long with that little blinking cursor on the black screen, right before it goes into the operating system, usually. But it may just sit there blinking, and blinking, and blinking.. You'll feel that sinking feeling in your stomach, you sense a problem and become rivited to the screen, hairs on the back of your neck standing up, you're body getting into full-fledged fight or fight mode. "Maybe it's just taking a bit longer this time?" Hopeful denial. You try to boot up in safe mode and do a disk repair of bad sectors, but no dice, it's fried. Your digital life is gone, all those photos and videos, the journal, the financials, everything. You try to remember when you last backed it up. Was it in August? Or maybe that was last August..? Ouch.
So, might we suggest taking a moment right now and just running that back up program onto an external hard drive or better yet onto one or more USB flash drives? (Pitch alert) USB flash drives are arguably the best storage media for back-up, since they're solid-state they have no moving parts to fail, like internal and external hard drives have. And they're very durable and last for 10+ years, and they're nice and compact. They're actually the most reliable storage media on the market today, and that's a fact.
We hope you're holidays are merry and bright, and your storage media reliable and tight? No, let's see 'right', no.. Well nothing seems to rhyme with 'bright' so anyway, all the best from BestFlashDrives.com and don't forget to back-up!
