Greetings from BestFlashDrives.com. We just caught wind of an exciting new development in higher education. Thomas Edison State College has very successfully deployed a system of distributing materials for entire courses on USB flash drives.
The online college had been experiencing challenges with course delivery due to software imcompatibilities in online delivery and other issues, so decided to deliver all course materials on 2GB USB drives to students.
This platform agnostic system eliminates the problem of incompatibility of some computers with online course systems, and also enables students to access course materials anytime, anywhere, without having to be connected to the Internet.
What's impressive is that the USB flash drives contain not only course outlines and lectures but also have applications such as AbiWord, a word processor, and BlackBoard, a course management system, and also a media player so that students can listen to lectures and view presentations right off the drive. All without leaving any of the materials behind on a computer and the applications run off the thumb drive, so it can be used on any computer without losing work.
Essentially recreating the online experience offline - and thus greatly increasing reliability and flexability for the student. The college has won a $250,000 federal grant to further develop and perfect this online/offline hybrid course delivery system.
